Laptop Servicing
by Sajilo Sewa
Diagnosis and Inspection: Technicians examine the laptop for any hardware or software issues. This can involve checking for physical damage, loose components, overheating issues, or software malfunctions. Dust Cleaning and Ventilation Check: Over time, dust and debris can accumulate inside the laptop, especially around the cooling fan. Cleaning out the dust helps to prevent overheating and ensures efficient cooling. Thermal Paste Replacement: If the laptop is overheating, the thermal paste between the CPU/GPU and the heat sink may be degraded. Replacing this paste can improve heat transfer and reduce temperature. Screen and Keyboard Cleaning: Technicians clean the screen and keyboard, ensuring that any stuck keys or smudges on the display are addressed. Battery Health Check: The battery's health is assessed to determine if it holds a charge well. If not, they may suggest a battery replacement. Hard Drive or SSD Check: The storage device is checked for bad sectors or any physical damage. Technicians may perform data backups or transfer data to a new drive if necessary. RAM and Hardware Upgrades: If the laptop is slow, technicians might recommend adding more RAM or replacing an old hard drive with a solid-state drive (SSD) for better performance. Software and System Updates: This involves updating the operating system, drivers, and essential software to improve security and functionality. Virus and Malware Scan: A full malware scan is conducted to ensure no harmful software is affecting the laptop’s performance. Testing and Quality Assurance: After completing the servicing, technicians test the laptop to confirm that everything is working as expected.
